Unable to run ActiveX

Q: Why am I unable to run ActiveX?

Whenever I surf to certain sites I get a pop-up message that says: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX on this page. As a result the page may not display correctly."

2 Questions:
1) What setting is disallowing me to run these controls?
2) Is there some way to configure my environment to allow running controls while still disallowing the others?

A: Tools / Internet Options / Security ...you can set all the ActiveX control
related settings that are currently "Disabled" to "Prompt" for the Internet
zone. That way you'll get a warning before downloading/installing any ActiveX content
