Windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify the publisher

Situation: When running https://peo.chicagotech.net/peoadmin/login.asp and navigate to Content>Event>Shows, you may receive a popup as shown below. Also the PEO can’t display the details of the event. you may receive another popup saying: “Windows has blocked this software because it cannot verify the publisher”. Clicking OK to install VSFLEX8L.OCX doesn’t fix the problem and the error will repeat whenever you access the Shows.

Resolution: 1. Add the website to the Trusted sites under Internet Security Option.

2. By default Internet Explorer disable running Unsigned ActiveX controls. Unsigned ActiveX Controls are programs that tries to execute a command on your PC, like VSFLEX8L.OCX files or a ZIP file which do not have a digital signature.

To disable this feature, please follow these steps:

1) Open Internet Explorer, navigate to Tools>Internet Options.

2) Click the Security tab and then Custom Level button.
Under ActiveX ensure the following are set to enabled
Run ActiveX and plug-ins – Enabled
Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting – Enabled
Set the following to “Prompt”
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not mark as safe – Prompt
Download Signed ActiveX Control – Prompt
