Some computers display IP while others display hostname

Q: In Computer Management/Sessions some computers are listed by the pcname, e.g., GBMPC, and others are listed with the local IP address, e.g., 192.168.1.24. Why is this?

A: Probably no reverse lookup DNS is registered for those hosts?

Try ping -a ipaddress from the server to see if it resolves it to the name or not?
