Group policy drive maps show red triangle  - Resolution with screenshots

Q: We are running Windows 2008 R2 as DC. We use group policies to map network drives. Some mappings work, but others. I would like to fix it. When I open a group policy and check the Drive Maps, it shows a red triangle. What does the red triangle mean?

A: As we know, when we create a mapped drive with GPP, there are four kinds of action we can select: Create, Replace, Update, and Delete. That decides how the Preference item will be pushed onto the client. Actually, the red triangle does not mean Error.

From the screenshot which you uploaded, I can know you select the “replace” action. Let’s talk it briefly. Replace – Remove whatever drive mapping exists for this share, and create a new one with these settings. If there isn’t one, just create it. No matter what, you’re getting this drive mapping, whether something existed there or not. It’s very insistent, so it gets a Red icon.
