The Windows 2008 server log the following event; Source: RasMan Event ID: 20209 Description: A connection between the VPN server and the VPN client 24.x.x.x has been established, but the VPN connection cannot be completed. The most common cause for this is that a firewall or router between the VPN server and the VPN client is not configured to allow Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packets (protocol 47). In the VPN client, the following event is logged;
Troubleshooting: 1. Try another Windows 7 computer. it works fine. 2. Verify the GRE is open. 3. In the Network connections, we find the VPN shows WAN Miniport (IKEv2) instead of PPTP. 4. After changing IKEv2 to PPTP, we still get the same error.
5. Delete the VPN and re-create doesn't make any different.
6. After checking all connection settings, we find the notebook is setup as ICS
which conflicts with VPN. disable ICS fixes the problem. Post your questions, comments, feedbacks and suggestions Related Topics
