Windows Remote Management Issues You do not have access rights to Logical Disk
Manager on
computer
Symptoms: 1. when trying to access Disk Management on a remote computer, you
may receive this message “You do
not have access rights to Logical Disk Manager on
computer”.
Or “The Disk
Management console failed to connect to the remote computer because the Disk
Management remoting service is not in the Windows Firewall exception list.
Add the Disk Management remoting service (dmremote.exe) to the Windows
Firewall exception list and try again”
Or “Open the port by
adding the PRC port (TCP port 135) to the Windows Firewall exception list
and try again”
2. You can’t access
the Event log on a remote computer after installed SP2 on your XP computer. 3. When trying to
access a remote computer you may receive this error: “The network path was
not found” 4. When trying to
access a remote computer you may receive this error: “The
RPC server is unavailable”
Resolution: 1. For accessing Disk Management on a remote computer, add
dmremote.exe service to the firewall.
2. For accessing the Event log on a remote computer, add Remote Event Log
management to the firewall.
3. For managing the Scheduled Tasks on a remote computer, add Remote
Scheduled Tasks Management to the firewall.
4. For managing the Scheduled Tasks on a remote computer, add Remote
Scheduled Tasks Management to the firewall.
5. For the
RPC
server is unavailable error, add TCP port 135 to the firewall.
