Can’t ping remote ASA from NetVanta
router – Case Study
Q: we
created Site to Site VPN between Cisco ASA 5510 and NetVanta 2054. The VPN
works fine and we can ping each other. However, we can’t ping the ASA from
the NetVanta router.
A: To be able to ping across the VPN from the NetVanta you must use
the "source" option in the ping command. The source option specifies the
source IP Address to use in the ping request. The source IP Address must be
the NetVanta's private IP Address on the local LAN.
Symptom: You are using Cisco
VPN client to establish VPN connection on Cisco PIX. The PIX
assigns ip 192.168.1.1 but you can't ping LAN ip like 10.0.0.10.
