The following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator: File name

Situation: When you try to unload a file, for example mmc.msi, you may get the following error "The following file(s) have been blocked by the administrator: mmc.msi"

Resolution - For the security reason, some executable files are blocked by the SharePoint. To unblock a file, please follow these steps:

1.  Run SharePoint Central Administrator.
 
2.  Click on Operations.

3. Under the "Security Configuration" section, click "Blocked file types". 

 
4.  Find the file extension, for example msi in our case. 
 
5.  Delete the msi from the list & click the "OK" button to save the settings..
