Nothing I did would fix this problem.  I looked for answers for many months

and tried MANY things.  I ended up doing a clean install.  Sorry.

Are you a professionnal computer analyst or an amateur ? this is exactly the

same problem I have with my Printer C5180, and that a lot persons have with

different brand of printers. You steared me toward a spooler crash which is

not the problem. The most plausible cause is network problem described in

this thread. Some people suggested disabling HP CUE DeviceDiscovery will this

work or not. I want a strait answer, no bull !

According to this very long thread, disabling de HP CUE DeviceDiscovery seems

to be a temporary solution (REDCATTOO has kept is printers for almost a

month).

The guys from MSFT Alan Morris and Ken Zhao seem to be as useless as HP

Support ! They keep asking questions instead of providing solutions. At least

we have a forum so share our experiences. Thanks to everybody, will keep you

informed if it works for me.

Hi

I tried this I still have the same problem. wireless connection drops after

an hour of inactivity and says local area connection only.  It requires

reboot of the machine to restore the connection. I have also tried the other

recommend fixes of turning of the network power saving options.

You can also do this without batch files or plaintext passwords.

Create an account on the remote machine with the same username/

password Vista Home Premium logs on with, and Vista will automatically

map the shares at startup.  I can confirm that this works for Vista

Home Premium trying to access shares on a Win2k machine.

If you're using a router, make sure you have the newest firmware installed.

You'll find it at your router's website.

I updated mine and it works like a charm on the Vista machine and of course

the already working XP units.

Hi Dustin,

Did you install Vista using upgrade media or did you use the full version?

If you used the upgrade version then please refer to my post 'Clean Install

Windows Vista Using Upgrade Media' in the newsgroup 'Windows Vista

Installation and Setup' for detailed instructions on how to use upgrade media

to clean install.
