Re-reading your question I see you do indeed mean that.
To only allow the user to recieve internal mails go into
ADUC, then the
Properties of the user in question | Exchange General |
Delivery
Restrictions | Accept Messages
To stop the user from sending messages out, two options
can be used.
1. Give the user a bogus non routable address so they can
still send out,
but no one can reply ( my personally least preferred
way).
2. Disallow the user from sending out to the Internet on
the SMTP connector
in ESM, First Administrative Group | Routing Groups |
Connectors | default
SMTP Connector | Delivery Restrictions | Add them to
'Reject Messages From'

The first place is to find out what the NDR they receive
has to say.
If that doesn't help, then move to the SMTP Protocol Log,
but look for
status codes in the 5xx range. Those are permanent
failures. If you
don't find them, do you find any 4xx status codes?
Are there any devices or software between your Internet
connection and
your Exchange server's SMTP Virtual Server? Are you grey
listing?
Using DNS RBLs? Blacklisting?
If you don't find anything like the above, start checking
for timeouts
in the SMTP Protocol Log. Disconnections might be
involved, too. Do
you see complete SMTP transactions, or are they stopping
after, say,
the MAIL FROM command (or the RCPT TO command)? You may
need a network
monitor to work with these.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any of those
messages
being rejected. Each status is a 2xx.
Since each of the RCPT TO command is /to/ your domain,
and your SMTP
log shows them being received by your server, why would
you think
they're being rejected by hotmail or aol? Both of those
ISP are
sending the messages, not receiving them.

Why do you want to enforce limits? If you enforce limits
what are the
users going to do with the email they can't bring
themselves to
delete? Users are all the same, they love to keep stuff
and if you
won't let them store it in Exchange they'll just use PST
files. If
they use PST files they'll either keep them on the PC and
blame you
when they screw up or they'll keep them on the file
server and blow
your storage sky high.
Anyway the answer to your question is that your limit is
75GB in
Standard Edition which I'm guessing is what you have. 65
users and
75GB of mail isn't a bad number to work to.
Not terribly keen about the hard drive though. Backups,
resiliency,
protection on that?

There are certainly a few options there ( CCR, SCR).

You could install some freeware variant of Unix. Most of

Nobody participating in these forums is qualified to
quote licensing terms
on behalf of Microsoft. Please contact your Microsoft
representative or
reseller, and/or check out the Microsoft Exchange
licensing page:
http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/howtobuy/default.mspx#EIC
Have you referred to Microsoft's licensing web site? If
you talk to various
people authorized to quote licensing terms to you and you
get different
answers, then my advice would to accept the advice that's
most favorable to
you.

It depends. Because the recommendation is that the
pagefile be equal to
the amount of RAM in the system, and you can put a lot of
RAM in the system,
you may want to or even need to dedicate a drive to it.

Do you mean the File As field? That's a per-item thing.
The default is Last,
First, and that makes the most sense to most people. If
you mean the display
order, that's somethng they each need to set in their own
Outlook or PDA.

The problem with what you're doing is that your
management now has a static
copy of data that your company may wish to change over
time. This won't be a
very scalable or supportable method going forward. If
they want shared data,
use a public contacts folder, and to get that into their
PDAs, look into
www.diditbetter.com for Add2Exchange.

Who said it's unresolvable? I gave you a resolution.
Recreate the folders.
The OAB will regenrate on the next schedule, and
everyone's Outlook will
repopulate their free/busy pretty quickly.

CSVDE cannot be used to change anything. LDIFDE can do
that.

The GAL is the GAL. If you want to follow the article and
do another
GAL then you can use an attribute to filter out users.
I'm fairly sure
(no 2003 image up and running at the moment) that like
with Rcipient
Policies, you can't reliably use OUs and would need to
select an
attribute on the security principal (user/contact etc.)

Sounds like a plan if you've got the support calls
available in your
contract/plan.
When you talk to them don't focus on the users or
anything like that.
Stay on the permissions and how best you will manage who
gets what
view, and in what client.

I strongly urge you not to create a new GAL. It's a
support nightmare.
The stats that Microsoft PSS produced some years ago made
a few people
go pale, really.
There are just so many ways to change the information in
AD. All you
need to do is to change the display name.
And that article isn't even the answer to the question
you asked.

The GAL doesn't exist as its own entity. It's a function
of AD. Change
the display name in AD and you change the GAL.
If you know all about ldap then get on with it. Quickest
would
actually to use CSVDE to haul everything out, use excel
to edit it and
then haul it all back in again.

You can't edit the GAL to do that. There is such a thing
as an
"Address List" which can be shown as a separate folder
under the GAL.
It all depends on what you want to do and more
importantly why.

How about a Public Folder containing Task items.
Never seen Dynamics.

There are a few articles knocking about but this:

gets good hits and ratings.

That's just the display name. Change that to display it
the other ay
around. It's one of those things that you needed to do up
front rather
than after the fact.
Just wondering if you can do a mass change with
admodify.net......
