Exchange 2007 Information Store Service Starting error

The Information Store service on the Exchange 2007 server does not start and gives error as follows:-

Okay I restarted the server and selected the IPv6 which was not selected earlier and bingo it worked.

I still do not understand the role IPv6 protocola has to play in Exchange 2010 and 2007.

Thanks for your update.



I understand that the issue can be resolved after enabling IPv6 protocol on the network card.



This issue may occur if the IPv6 protocol is not completely disabled on the server (To complete disable IPv6, we also need to create a registry value.). Thus, the Exchange server still tries to contact DC server through IPv6 but it fails. This caused the Information Store service on the Exchange server not start properly.



Basically, IPv6 is supported in Exchange 2007 SP1 and SP2 when it is installed on a Windows Server 2008 computer that has both IPv4 and IPv6 enabled. It can support almost all the Exchange features, so it can be enabled on an Exchange 2007 server generally. For more information, please refer to the following article:
