Remote Desktop issue When Virtual network created

Postby guest » Mon Mar 05, 2012 9:52 am

I'd just installed 2008R2-RTM on my home server for testing, the server only have one NIC adaptor.

When I created a virtual network by using hyper-v manager, the remote desktop goes strange,
when something big change in the screen (such as open My computer), the screen will freeze for 10 seconds.

I'm using PPTP vpn to my router then direct remote to my server.
My router is using Dual WAN. I'd tried different connection method but it does the same.

This doesn't exist when I remove the hyper-v virtual network.

Is this my hardware compatible issue or 2008R2's hyper-v issue?
I don't have additional funds for another 24x7 NIC, yet...

Does anyone knows any workground for this?

Generally speaking, we recommend that you dedicate a physical NIC for management.

You mentioned that “When I created a virtual network by using hyper-v manager, the remote desktop goes strange”, please help me to collect the following information:

1. Did you mean you encountered the issue only a few seconds after you create the virtual network or always have this issue after the virtual network created?

2. What the type of virtual network did you created? External Virtual Network or Internal Virtual Network?

3. Did you encountered this issue when you RDP to the Hyper-V host machine from one client in your LAN?

4. Do you have any other Hyper-V machine in your home, how about connect to it?

Please also check you have TCP Offloading and also any other offloading disabled on the NIC, these function may cause some network problem. For more information, you can refer to:

In addition, if possible, please install an additional PCI NIC to test whether it works.
