Mapping with red X is normal or by design. Microsoft called it as autodisconnect. For example, a small company has limited 10 sessions to the server and they have 11 users. If the all users try to access the server, one of them will be denied because the session limitations. By default, autodisconenct is setup 15 minutes and that will free any session if the ideal time more than 15 minutes. The red mapping means the connection is temporary disable. However, if you double click on it, it will re-connect. Therefore this is the real issue.
