How to reset System Configuration in ESXi 5.5

Postby blin » Fri Dec 06, 2013 8:00 pm

1. Run vicfg-cfgbackup command in the ESXi console to back up the configuration.
2. From the console, press F2 and select Reset System Configuration and press Enter.
3. Press F11 to confirm.
4. Reboots the System.

Note: When we reset the configuration, it overrides all your configuration and changes it to the default settings such as deleting the
password for the administrator account (root), statics IP address and license information. However, resetting the configuration does not remove virtual machines on the ESXi host. After you reset the configuration defaults, the virtual machines are not visible, but you make them visible again by reconfiguring storage and reregistering the virtual machines.
