How to convert VMware VM without VMware Tools to Hyper-V

If you convert a VMwrae VM without uninstalling VMware tools, the VM on Hyper-V may generate many errors in the Event Viewer. It is better to uninstall the VMware tools before convert it to Hyper-V. However, after uninstalling VMwrae tools, the VM can’t access the entwort, many convert software such as Diskt2vhd and VMM can’t access the VM. In this case, you may want to use software that can convert VMDK to VHD such as StartWind. Here is how to.

1. Backup or clone the VMware VM.
2. Uninstall the VMware tools on Windows OS.
3. Login vCenter server to download the VMDK files to the local computer.
4. Run StartWind to convert the VMDK to VHD.
5. Copy the converted VHD to Hyper-V host and create a new VM.
