Outlook 2016 issues

1. Outlook 2016 can only connect to Exchange using AutoDiscover feature. A special DNS record must be configured for your domain in order for you to take advantage of the Outlook 2016. Make sure you add a CNAME record for autodiscover.yourdomain.com that points to the Intermedia Autodiscovery DNS record. As a temporary solution (quick fix) you can modify the HOSTS file on the workstation adding a line for autodiscover service location.

2. Possible reasons for Outlook 2016 issues with connecting to Exchange are: Exchange 2007 mailbox is not supported by Outlook 2016.

3. New MAPI-HTTP protocol. First introduced in Exchange 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2013 SP1, MAPI-HTTP has replaced the RPC-based sync with a new Internet-friendly protocol that enhances Exchange/Outlook connectivity.

4. Foreground network calls eliminated. Outlook 2016 no longer uses foreground network calls to ensure that Outlook stays responsive on unreliable networks.

5. Exchange Account Set-up Missing in Outlook 2016. Exchange accounts can only be added to Outlook 2016 using auto account setup (even with the new dialog, above). If autodiscover records aren't published, your administrator will need to publish them so Outlook can find the account. lease refer to this post:

6. After upgrading Outlook 2013 to 2016, the client has a problem to access the email. The resolution is Reconnect Outlook 2016 to Outlook.com for uninterrupted email access to ensure the best experience and fix issues. Quoted from Microsoft: "If you do not reconnect your upgraded email account, you will soon no longer be able to send or receive Outlook.com emails via your desktop version of Outlook 2016 and 2013 until you reconnect. Additionally, by not reconnecting, you may experience email and calendar sync issues that will be resolved once you reconnect".
