How to: Test Outlook using RPC over HTTPS

Postby chicagotech » Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:48 am

To verify that Outlook connects to the Exchange computer using RPC over HTTP, you may have two options to do so.

1. run Outlook /rpcdiag
1) Click Start, click Run, type outlook /rpcdiag, and then click OK.
2) Type your credentials in the User name box and in the Password box, and then click OK.
3) If HTTPS appears in the Conn column in the Exchange Server Connection Status dialog box, a service is connected by using RPC over HTTP.

2. Click Outlook icon in system tray while holting ctrl key. Select Connection Status.

Also, you can test rpc over http using URL, for example https://mail.chicagotech.net/rpc, if it works, you will be prompted for username and password. After entering username and password, you should receive this message (This error is normal):

Please try the following:
