Postby chicagotech » Fri Jun 05, 2009 10:12 pm

Case 1: I can access some my company websites but others. Even in the LAN, it prompt for username and password. After entering username and password, I get this message; HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials.

Resolution: The problem is ISUR_ComputerName Account password. Reset pasword fixes the problem. Als plrease refer to these link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822165 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822699.

Case 2: You may experience authentication issues browsing http://companyweb on SBS 2003 after installing the cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (KB963027 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/963027) ).

Resolution: On an SBS 2003 server this issue can be fixed by applying update KB961143.

Based on Microsoft, "This problem may occur if the Default Domain property for Basic authentication is set to a backward slash character (\). In earlier versions of IIS, you could set the Default Domain property to a backward slash character (\) to allow the Web server to validate the logon credentials of a user against all trusting domains. However when you set the Default Domain property to a backward slash character (\) on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, IIS will no longer allow the search for user credentials in all trusted domains". Microsoft has a hotfix for this issue: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/827991
