Prevent inheriting permission from SharePoint parent site

Postby guest » Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:32 am

To prevent inheriting permission from parent site, please do the steps below:

1. Open the subsite, click Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Advanced permissions

2. Under the action drop down menu, click Edit permission, click OK.

3. After you clicking OK, you will see you can select users and that means this subsite doesn’t inherit permission from parent site anymore. However, the parent site permission has already copied to this subsite, you must make sure that this user is not located in any group which has permission to access. If so, you need to remove that group and add the specific user in or create a new group.
