VPN user can't map a network drive

Postby guest » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:04 pm

Q: I can establish the VPN, but can't map network drive. Can you help me?

A: I just tested it. The problem is because you use VPN login from non-domain pc, we need to provide the domain username and password. Try these steps:

1. In command prompt, run
net use \\sqlserver\lookup
Enter the user name for 'sqlserver': domain\letters (note: make sure add domain name before the username)
Enter the password for sqlserver:
The command completed successfully.

2. If above command works, try this:
net use w: \\sqlserver\lookup
The command completed successfully

3. To confirm the mapping run this:
net use
New connections will be remembered.

Status Local Remote Network

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK W: \\sqlserver\lookup Microsoft Windows Network
The command completed successfully.
