I can't remotely connect to my home computers

Postby guest » Sun Feb 12, 2012 11:18 pm

I can connect and log on to my home server from outside of my house, but I can't seem to access any of my home computers through the home computer tab on the remote access user interface. What might be wrong?

Firstly, your computer must be on. You also have to make sure that your home computers have an operating system installed that supports remote connection and that remote connection (remote desktop) is enabled.

You can enable remote connection by:

Windows XP:

•Right clicking My Computer
•Click properties
•Clicking the remote tab
•Checking the box for Remote Desktop
•Click OK
Windows Vista:

•Right Click My Computer
•Click Properties
•Click Remote Settings
•Select Allow Connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop
•Click OK

The following editions of Windows support Remote connection (remote desktop):

•Windows Vista Ultimate
•Windows Vista Enterprise
•Windows Vista Business
•Windows XP Professional
•Windows XP Media Center Edition
•Windows XP Tablet
