Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporally unavailable.

Postby blin » Sat Sep 16, 2017 3:41 pm

Situation: The client configured RDS Quick Start on their Windows 2012 R2. It works internally. Since they don't have static public IP address and DNS to manage it for outside access, they try to use the IP address for remote access, for example https://19.12.3.4/rdweb. They get this message: Your computer can't connect to the remote computer because the Remote Desktop Gateway server is temporally unavailable.

Troubleshooting: This is expected error because the IP address doesn't match the Remote Desktop Gateway server FDNS. The temporally solution is modifying the hosts file, for example add 19.12.3.4 RDS.chicagotech.net. Then use https://RDS.chicagotech.net/rdweb instead of IP address.
