Configure Permissions for Remote Desktop Services Connection

Postby chicagotech » Fri Sep 22, 2017 10:06 am

Q: I would like to assign our helpdesk to permissions to manage Remote Desktop Services Connections in our Windows 2012 R2. The Microsoft article Configure Permissions for Remote Desktop Services Connections - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lib ... 53032.aspx is for Windows 2008 r2 only. How do you configure Permissions for Remote Desktop Services Connections in Windows 2012 R2?

A: To grant a group Full Control to the RDP-Tcp listener on a Server 2012 RDSH server you may open an administrator command prompt and enter the following command:

wmic /namespace:\\root\CIMV2\TerminalServices PATH Win32_TSPermissionsSetting WHERE (TerminalName="RDP-Tcp") CALL AddAccount "domain\group",2

To use GUI, you can access Windows 2008 R2 RD Session Host Configuration (tsconfig.msc). Then connect to your Server 2012 R2 RDSH server and modify the RDP-Tcp listener permissions. Here is how.

1. run tsconfig.msc and right click on RD Session Host Configuration. Select "Connect to Remote Desktop Session Host Server.

2. Check Another Computer and type the computer name.

3. Right click on RDP-TS and select Properties.
