TS client can't print to local printer

Postby guest » Tue Jan 08, 2008 10:41 pm

Q: when the client tries to print remotely, he cannot see his local printer. Why?

A: Based on current status, I believe this issue is caused by the fact that
client is using a multiple function printer "Canon Pixma MP450". We are not
able to redirect this device in terminal session, because some of the
functions provided by this printer is not redirect-able. Also, from your
test, I believe printer redirection shall be working on this Server, as you
can connect and print correctly. Thank you.

Suggestions:
==========

Suggestion 1: install another printer:
======
As a technical engineer, I understand the inconvenience and the cost
involved in this process. However, I believe this is the best method to
fully resolve this issue. I appreciate your understanding, and Jason's
sharing. :-)

Suggestion 2: use fallback printer driver:
======
If the customer would like to continue troubleshooting this issue, I
suggest we contact CANON and try to get a fallback compatible printer
driver for this device, so that only basic printer function is activated
for this device.

Please note that only basic printer function may be available when loading
fallback driver. Also, we might have to involve Printer manufacturer when
troubleshooting with compatible drivers. Thank you for your understanding
and cooperation.

We can then install the printer driver on client and Server, so that the
printer driver can be matched during redirection phase. For your additional
