To log on to this remote console session, you must be admin

Postby guest » Sat Dec 02, 2006 3:57 pm

I setup a server for Thin Clients to connect to and run applications
such as Microsoft Office and a few other applications. Everything was
setup fine but after a power outage I am getting the error "to log on
to this remote console session, you must have administrative permission
on this computer" when trying to log into the server with a Domain User
account. Users have been added to "Remote Desktop Users" group but
they are still unable to log in. If I add them to the Administrators
group then they log in no problem but now they have way to many
privileges. What could have changed? This is on Server 2003 and
clients are using XP Pro WYSE Terminals.

You cannot have 2 connections to session 0 at the same time,
so if you connect to the console you will have to log off the
existing session.
Your account does not have the right to logoff the existing
session on the console. You must be the same user who currently
holds the console session, or an Administrator. It probably does
not have the right to "Logon locally" either.

We had a similar case. We have two HP Thin Clients, t5325 and t5565. t5565 works fine, but t5325 get "To log on to this remote console session, you must have administrative permission on this computer". We fix it by upgrading the Linxu images

Go to HP website to download the Operation System for t5325, which is T5A33009 Rev. 1 (19 Sep 2011) in our case.

You may want to disable console session on the HP Thin Client. To do that, highlight the connection and select edit. Select Option in edit page and uncheck Attach to console.
