VPN BASED NETWORK FOR PUBLIC INTERNET

Postby alimalik01 » Wed Feb 14, 2007 1:29 am

HI GUYS,

I am new for VPN tunneling based networking but this is my need.

I don't want VPN server for site to site or clients to sites etc, I need this to use for vpn client to Public Internet websites I think its called VPN SERVER as router & RRAS.

Some days before one of online guys gave me a user name and a password to access his network, I am not sure what kind of network he got because he asked me to make a vpn connection in Win XP and use his provided username and password.

After I used his connection I felt its more speedy and gives access to every single website even some which are blocked with my ISP by proxy server.

Now pls give me advise for my this project to make VPN SERVER:

1) What kind of server should I have to route public internet with athentication (firewall).

2) What specification should be of the server.

3) Do I need any other software / hardware with if I have Windows Server 2003 .

4) What should be the bandwidth of this server.

Your replies are welcome and highly appreciated.

Regards

Ali Malik

If it is for public access only, windows 2003 with one NIC. If you want the server for both private and public, then windows serve with two NICs as multihomed computer.
