RWW and Active X

Postby turner » Tue Aug 25, 2009 4:56 pm

We installed WSB 2008 and have XP with service pack 3 installed on the office computers. I cannot get the RWW to work. I have researched and installed the latest RDP. When I go to IE/Tools/Manage Add On - I can't find the RDP or Terminal service connection. When I try to access our computers using the remote web access I get a message no computer is available then it says Active X is needed and it sends me to a microsoft site that I have tried the sets multiple times any no luck. I spent two hours on the phone with Microsoft Support today and the problem still exit. Any suggestion?

Resolution:

1. Make sure the RDC is v6.1. If not, please download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en - Remote Desktop Connection (Terminal Services Client 6.1) for Windows XP (KB952155).
2. Add the Remote Web Workplace Web site to the trusted site list

a.Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
b.Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
c.In Internet Options, click Security.
d.On the Security tab, click Trusted sites, and then click Sites.
e.In Trusted sites, for Add this website to the zone, type your
organization's Web address (URL) for Remote Web Workplace, for example,
https://remote.contoso.com Click Add, and then click Close.
3. Reset IE settings to default:

a. Start IE
b. Click File, and then click Import and Export.
c. Follow the steps in the wizard to export your Favorites.
d. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
e. Click Advanced, and then click Reset.
Then browse the RWW again. Check whether there is option offered to install the active X component for terminal service. If yes, please install it and check whether the issue persists.
4. Install the below update on the problematic client computers
Some components of an application may not be displayed correctly in a
Terminal Services session if you connect to a terminal server by using RDC
6.1 from a client computer that is running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista
SP1, or Windows Server 2008

Also try to delete {7584c670-2274-4efb-b00b-d6aaba6d3850} from regiedit.
1. Click Start, Run. Type Regedit.exe and press ENTER

2. Navigate to the following branch:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Ext \ Settings
3. Double-click Settings to expand the branch

4. Right-click {7584c670-2274-4efb-b00b-d6aaba6d3850} and choose Delete

5. Click Yes when asked for confirmation.

Close all instances of Internet Explorer and re-run Remote Desktop Web Connection.

Thank you for the suggestion.

The Regedit key you provided is not listed in my Regedit list
