Backup Exec: has WMI enabled, and is not blocked by firewall

Postby chicagotech » Tue May 01, 2012 10:40 am

Situation: When trying to push install of the Backup Exec 2010 Remote Agent and/or Desktop Laptop Agent (DLO) to a Remote Windows Server fails with error: "Error connecting to the remote server. Ensure the server is available, has WMI enabled, and is not blocked by a firewall. 1603."

Case 1: Diable firewall on the remote computer. Then try it.

Case 2: Make sure WMI service enabled and the firewall doesn't block it.

Case 3: As a workaround try manual or local install by copying the RAWS folder to the remote server.

Case 4: Change DCOM permissions by following this article: http://www.symantec.com/business/suppor ... TECH128062
