SPSearch4 VSS Writer Inconsistent Shadow Copy

Im looking for a perminant fix to the problem described in this thread. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... cf70ad8177

I get the occasional failed backup and when I run vssadmin list writers, it always shows the following error

Writer name: 'SPSearch4 VSS Writer'
Writer Id: {35500004-0201-0000-0000-000000000000}
Writer Instance Id: {ad1473d3-53dc-49f2-9c1e-286a0b9b8a3d}
State: [8] Failed
Last error: Inconsistent shadow copy



Running 'PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures' will fix the problem and I am then able to run a backup, and the scheduled nightly backup run fine.

However, the fix only lasts about a week, then I start getting the same error again, and I have to run the above command to get backups working again.

Is there a more perminant solution to this problem?

"When I run (get-spserver @env.computername).NeedsUpgrade, I get no response at all. It simply drops to a new line. So not much help there."....there is a syntax error in that one,it should be:
(get-spserver $env:computername).NeedsUpgrade
Are you running it from an elevated sharepoint shell?
Looks like farm is not accessible?Can you browse http://companyweb or sharepoint central admin?
Go to cmd [with admin priviledges]->powershell->Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell
then try to run the two commands....
