P2V conversion error (2912)

Postby guest » Thu Jun 28, 2012 7:22 pm

I'm trying to convert a Win2003 Sp2 machine using VMM2008. When running the conversion, then job summary reports the following error at the copy hard disk step;

"Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact an agent on the hyperv.domain.local server.
(Unknown error (0x80072f06))

Recommended Action
Ensure the agent is installed and running. Ensure the WS-Management service is installed and running, then restart the agent."

The WS-Management and Virtual Machine Manager Agent service on the host server are both running. I restarted both services and the VMM and HyperV servers. It still fails after creating the VM and coping hard disk. The job details list "1.2 Creating VM" complete and "1.3 copy HD" is 0%.

I've also turned off the firewalls to make sure that is not the issue.

The SCVMM 2008 server is a virtual hosted on the same Hyper V server as the destination of the P2V.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

So this looks like alot of other posts. The physycal machine being converted uses IIS. Once I stopped WWW service, the machine converted.

I even tried reinstalling VMM server using different ports below the range listed in the documentation instead of 443 and 80, but it still came down to stopping the web service.

Seems kind of lame that you have to do this since one of the features is live migration. Any sever not in a cluster that runs Exchange with webmail, Terminal services and webservers required me to stop services in order to P2V. The only other server I used it on was SQL which worked fine.
