Upgrade Windows 2000 to Windows 2008

Postby blin » Sun Mar 15, 2015 8:46 pm

One of our client has Windows 2000 as TS and FTP server. They would like to convert it to VM running on Windows 2008. Is it possible to upgrade Windows 2000 to 2003 and then upgrade it to 2008?

you are right that you should upgrade to Windows Server 2003 then upgrade to Windows Server 2008. But there are some points we should take care.

1. Before you upgrade to Windows Server 2003:

A: You should make sure that the server's hardware is compatible with Windows Server 2003It is also important that you have installed Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 2 (or later, if available) on the server to upgrade the files in the Windows 2000 Server installation.
