Allow caching of share results in missing files and folders

Postby guest » Fri Oct 30, 2015 10:32 am

From the description, I understand that you report a recent phenomenon that for Server 2012 or 2012 R2 File and Storage services, under the Share, if we check ‘Allow caching of share’, the end user randomly (implied from what you said) found that the files in the share are missing or the share itself is missing altogether. However, if we uncheck the checkbox on the server, the end user see the files immediately. If there is anything misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

Firstly, since the problem is random, which makes the trouble-shooting more difficult. However, we’ll try the best to provide the possible solutions.

As you mentioned, you suspect the problem is caused by a recent update, have you tried to uninstall recent updates (I think it’s may be several) to see if it can solve the problem?

Thanks for your screenshots. In it, it shows the properties of a share named ‘Personal’, does the problem occur only with this share or with all the shares randomly?

Would you please check the shared folder's properties? Please check whether you have checked "All files and programs that users open from the shared folder are automatically available offline" in advanced sharing offline caching tab.

If not, please try to check this option and confirm whether the issue will persist.
