Does Windows Server 2012 Essentials support Hyper-v?

I have a server running Windows Server 2012 Essentials Edition and I want to setup as a Hyper-V host. When I try to add the Hyper-V role through Server Manager the option is missing. Is Hyper-V a role supported on Essentials Edition?

Based on my research, Windows Server 2012 Essentials and Foundation aren't geared toward virtualization. And the Hyper-V role and Hyper-V Manager console are now included with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. For more information, please check the link below:
