Sector size of physical disk is not supported

Postby blin » Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:19 am

Situation: When create a new VM on Hyper-V host, you may receive this message: The sector size of the physical disk on which the virtual disk resides is not supported

Case 1: The client is copying the VHD file to a USB drive and attaches it to Hyper-v. The USB drive is not support disk for VM.

Case 2: If you use a partition larger than 2TB, you have to use dynamic MBR or dynamic GPT.

Case 3: ensure the LUNS are created with a block size of 512bytes - a block size of 4096 bytes may not work.

Case 4: make sure it is NTFS format instead of FAT.
