How to Transfer FSMO Roles using Ntdsutil Utility

1. run cmd command line:
2. Connect to other DC. Note: you login and run command line on primary DC and other dc is the dc will hold 5 FSMO roles.
Type ntdsutil and press the enter key. Type in following commands one by one.

ntdsutil: roles

fsmo maintenance: connections

server connections: connect to server <another domain controller name>

server connections: quit
3. To transfer schema master
FSMO maintenance: transfer schema master (Press Enter Key).

4. To transfer naming master
FSMO maintenance: transfer naming master (Press Enter Key)

5. To transfer rid master
FSMO maintenance: transfer rid master (Press Enter Key)

6. To transfer PDC
FSMO maintenance: transfer PDC (Press Enter Key)

7. To transfer infrastructure master
FSMO maintenance: transfer infrastructure master (Press Enter Key)

8. To verify all roles have been transferred
netdom query fsmo
