Using Vista as initiator to copy files to iSCSi target fail

Postby guest » Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:42 pm

Using Vista as initiator to copy files to an iSCSi target
failed, and logging off iSCSI connection also failed.

iSCSI issue is usually complex, due to current information is not enough to
identify root cause, you have to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.

There is a known issue in Vista of a defect in how iSCSI Initiator
determines how many times it has re-sent a rejected PDU. This defect makes
the iSCSI target unresponsive. Therefore, iSCSI Initiator performs LUN
resets in order to communicate with the iSCSI target. It does this instead
of immediately retrying the rejected PDU.

1. Install this hotfix for Vista iSCSI known issue:
On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, iSCSI
Initiator may be unable to communicate with the iSCSI target for several
minutes after an iSCSI Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is rejected

2. If the hotfix doesn't resolve issue, you need to download and install
Driver Test Manager (DTM) to do iSCSI tests.
