Error 0x80070570 file or directory is corrupted & unreadable

Postby guest » Wed Dec 07, 2011 6:55 pm

We have SCCM 2007 server running on Windows 2008 R2 that is the Virtual machine of Hyper-V. We also use SCCM backup to backup SCCM data. When try to copy the SCCM backup to a network shared folder, we receive this message: attempting to copy some files, you may receive this message: error 0x80070570 file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. However, if we copy the same SCCM backup internally (meaning from C drive to F drive for example), it works fine. Any suggestions?

Based on your description, I assume that after finished SCCM backup task, if you want to move backup file to another machine, there was a warning message prompted, however, you can moved it to another partition in the same machine. Please correct me if there is any misunderstanding.

Please understand that according to the warning message and issue symptom, we suspect that if the destination machine does not work fine, so could you please perform the following steps and then let me know the result?
1. Check if we can move backup file to a third machine.
2. Check if we can move backup file to the original destination machine from another partition after we first move backup file to new partition.
3. When we perform SCCM backup, can we set the destination machine as a remote path to storage backup file?

1. I can move some files from the backup folder to a third machine, but not all files.

2. I can move the backup folder between internal drives.

3. I can't do the same backup the network shared of another computer. If I try, I will get the same error code.

Well, based on the test results, we suspect if the destination server is the cause of this issue. So could you please perform the following future test to double confirm this point?
1. Can we move any file to destination server from a third server?
2. Can we backup SCCM to the third server?
3. Can we move any file from the second partition on source server to the destination server?
4. If we use command tool, for example xcopy to move file to destination server, can we get more detailed error message?
5. What’s the OS version of destination server and source server?

Please understand that once we have verified the issue is caused by the destination server, the quickest workaround for us is storage SCCM backup file in a third server, and then we can focus on fixing the destination server. Please implement above steps, and then let me know the result

I found I can copy the backup folder to a network shared folder located in a remote computer internal drive but not external drive. I fix the problem by taking the ownership and re-assigning the permissions.
