Can't delete log file name

Postby guest » Sun Jun 29, 2014 8:04 am

In our Windows 2008, we can't delete a long file name. These what I have tried.

1. cd the path to the subfolder where is the file located. Del it doesn't work.

2. Rename it doesn't work.

3. Dir /X doesn't sdhow the 8.3 short name.

4, Try this command: dele adtech~1 that doesn't work.

5. I can't move it to another folder.

6. dr /s doesn't delete it.

Any suggestion?

Based on my research, we can try using the below command to delete the file:

mkdir empty_dir

robocopy empty_dir the_dir_to_delete /s /mir

rmdir empty_dir

rmdir the_dir_to_delete
