Network folder is current mapping using different user

Postby chicagotech » Tue Feb 19, 2008 11:33 am

Situation: When the client tries to map a sharing driver in remote Vista from his Windows 2008 server using a different username (meaning different from current logon ID), he receives this message: "The network folder specified is current mapping using a different username and password. To continue using a different username and password, first disconnect any existing mapping to this network share".

Resolution: If we use net use command on the windows 2008, it displays "OK \\remotepc\IPC$". That means the current login user is connecting to the remote PC. To fix this problem, use net use * /d command to disconnect all connections, and then re-map it using the different username. The following commands are examples.

C:\Users\Administrator>net use
New connections will be remembered.

Status Local Remote Network

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK \\10.0.0.10\IPC$ Microsoft Windows Network
The command completed successfully.

C:\Users\Administrator>net use * /d
You have these remote connections:

\\10.0.0.10\IPC$
Continuing will cancel the connections.

Do you want to continue this operation? (Y/N) [N]: y
The command completed successfully.
