Cisco Wireless AP is not stable

Postby guest » Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:23 pm

Situation: the client has 6 Cisco 1241 wireless APs with 3 SSIDs in the building. When a user switch one wireless SSID to another SSID, it doesn't work or it will switch to a weak signal AP so that it is very slow.

Resolution: In most cases, upgrade all PAs to the same ISO fixes the problem. In our case, we fixed this problem by adding all APs to Cisco WLC so that the WLC upgrades all APs to the same elev IOS.

In our case, the problem is the DHCP is out of the IP addresses. We find more and more people bring smartphones and tablets with them. These wifi devices take the IP addresses from the DHCP and sometimes, the AP doesn't release the IP addresses even the device left. We fix this problem by upgrade Cisco AP ISO or upgrade them to Wireless LAN Controller.
