How to Set up an adhoc network on Windows 8

Postby blin » Mon Sep 24, 2012 5:08 pm

Q: How do you set up an adhoc network on Windows 8? I don't see it using UI.

A: Yes, the Manage Wireless Networks UI is removed on win8. If you want to configure ad-hoc network, I suggest you to use the netsh command to achieve this. For example
To start simply use this commands

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=LocalAdHoc key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
And to stop it

netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
