iPhone Unable to Verify Exchange account information

Postby guest » Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:15 pm

Case 1: After upgrading to OS4, the iPhone gets this message: "Unable to Verify account information.

Resolution: I had the same issue. I turned off wi-fi under settings and it allowed me to set up my enterprise server account and sync when using 3-G. Hope that works for everyone.

Case 2: reset network settings, this fixed the issue for me after upgrade to iPhone 4 from working 3G with iOS 4.0 as the backup image.

Case 3: I talked to an Apple Expert yesterday and he said that the problem appears when people restored their backups from a previous iPhone. He recommended making sure you save your data (contacts, calendar, music, photos, etc.) on your computer, then reset your iPhone back to factory settings, and when you plug it into iTunes, select the "I want a setup a new iPhone" option instead of restoring from backup. Then you'll have to re-sync all your data again. He said if you choose the new iPhone option, you shouldn't have that problem. I told him that it would be a pain for everyone in my company to do that and I tried pushing him to make this issue aware to the developers and to include it in a next software patch. He said he'll do his best to get people to investigate the issue. I have NOT tried his recommended method yet because I don't feel like wiping out my iPhone again, we'll probably just have to wait for a new update to iOS 4.

Case 4: I'm using an iPhone 3GS, and I can sync my email both internally via wireless, and externally via 3G and VPN. We had a user that could not though, and after looking at our settings, we seemed to be identical. We checked the accounts on the exchange server, identical, then I added the port to the end of the mail server address, so it read something like this "mail.mailserver.com:443"...

This allowed him to sync internally and externally... This resolved our issue, but when speaking with an Apple rep, we asked if having the port in the address would make that big of a difference, he couldn't answer the question, but said it shouldn't...

Case 5: Update your device to iOS 4.0.1 or later. If you previously installed the configuration profile in this article, remove it by tapping Settings > General > Profile > EAS Default Task Timeout > Remove. Contact your IT Administrator if you are unable to remove the configuration profile yourself.

Case 6: OK i have fixed my problem.

Connect VPN and used the app freeping to check for DNS resolution to my exchange server.
When i ping the server by name it does not work.
When i ping the server by IP is works.

I setup my exchange server as IP.IP.IP.IP:443 and it connects and no more cannot verify account.
Have not tested this on the local wireless but it works over VPN
