Win98 Remote Desktop

Postby dw85745 » Sat Jun 23, 2007 4:05 pm

I am still running a Win98 box. To my knowledge Win98 did Not have Remote Desktop or Terminal Services. Search of Registry seems to confirm this. Twice I authorized a company to configure their software on my system as configuration is proprietary and part of agreement I signed.

To accomplish this I need to log onto their website, which allows them obtain a backdoor to my computer and manipulate their software remotely.

Question -- How are they doing this? (i.e.)

1) What MS standard DLL (e.g. Oledb32 or Oledb32r?)
2) Some other DLL
3) Some TCP/IP remote built into their software?
4) Any other idea -- Search of MSDN, at least for me turned up nothing.

Thanks
David

You may want to use VNC which is free remote control software. This link may help,

Thanks for response.

VNC is a possiblity where the client side may have been built into one of their Dll's.

=========================

Is there anyway to find it, so I can shut it off on the client side -- or somehow monitor without having to keep monitoring Port 5900 + N?

If I list all the functions within a DLL, what function(s) am I looking for?

Looking for some technical direction on VNC -- not usage but VNC internals.

Thanks
David
