Windows server 2008 DC and VPN issue

Postby chicagotech » Tue Jun 15, 2010 8:31 pm

I have a vpn setup on a Windows Server 2008 box. It works fine everyone can connect to it and use it as intended, the only problem is after a while, maybe 10 minutes maybe 1 hour, you just cannot browse the VPN network anymore. But, everything is still connected even in the routing and remote access console it still shows all the VPN clients as connected, they just cannot access the VPN network, rendering it useless. At this point the clients have to disconnect their connection and connect again and it all works fine for the time being untill it just stops responding again.

There is no indication anywhere of anyone being disconnected, it just stops working.

Can anyone help with this, is this a known issue?

Is this server a multihomed DC ?

I had similar problems on a multihomed DC (Windows 2003) with RRAS.
I fixed the DNS settings as it is described at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/272294
