WINDOWS 7 RC Loses internet connection

Postby guest » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:27 am

I have an annoying issue. My computer loses connection to the internet. I have to constantly right click on the NET Icon in the system tray and choose troubleshoot. It always resets the LAN adapter. I have noticed that this happens for sure on streaming videos or Audio (like a radio station etc.) Skype works. It can happen randomly no matter what I am doing. The thing is I had this issue with VISTA off and on. Installing the public BETA of WIN7 fixed this issue and I was happy. Upgrading to RC of WIN7 and it is back. I have checked the device manager and unchecked the power setting. So it is not allowed to turn off the Ethernet adapter.

I seem to have found a solution. This is only a fix for this issue if you are running an nForce based motherboard with windows 7 RC.

nForce Driver Version 15.35 WHQL

Release Highlights:
Ethernet Driver (v73.06) WHQL
Network Management Tools (v73.05)
"Sedona" SATAIDE Driver (v11.1.0.23) WHQL
SATARAID Driver (v11.1.0.23) WHQL
RAIDTOOL Application (v11.1.0.23)
SMU Driver (v1.67) WHQL
Installer (v7.01)

I installed the nforce networking controls with this as well. I unchecked any settings to do with saving power and shutting off the network card.
So far trying several things that normally have been losing my connection, nothing bad. Will edit/update if the network loss comes back. Hope this helps some people with this issue.

Installed XP as a virtual machine under Virtual PC in Windows 7 and notice that overnight when my machine goes to sleep I lose network connectivity in my virtual machine when it wakes up. Even shutting down the virtual pc and bringing it back up doesn't appear to fix it, have to reboot.. Anyone else notice this?

Could you try if connecting the VM network adapter to "not connected" and connecting it back to the "Marvell .." NIC, restores the connectivity. You can change the NIC adapter settings under Tools-> Settings-> Networking.
(If there are multiple VMs running, connect all to "not connected" and then connect back)

If this doesn`t work, could you verify in the host Network Adapter settings, that "Virtual PC Network Filter Driver" is bound(checked).
[run -> ncpa.cpl -> Right click network adapter -> properties -> Verify that "Virtual PC Network Filter Driver" is checked]
