Unable to connect to Zune

My 4 month old HTC HD7 has just come back from repairs & now I cant connect to Zune.

Error message is Can't connect to your phone. Disconnect it, restart it, then try connecting again.

Have uninstalled & reinstalled zune. Have reformatted phone.

Have deleted cert. Have also followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2468307

Have checked to make sure zune services are working.

all to no avail. problem still exists.

For the record the issue relates to changing your password on your computer.

After spending days on the issue with lots of suggestions of deleting a certificate (which is an important troubleshooting step

BUT

there is one extra step you need to do.

Now you need to browse to C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA

Inside this folder, delete the directory with named something like S-1-5-21-1234567890-1234567890

Then start Zune. Done!

This little post was a little hard to find but absolutely nailed it.
