HP Credential Manager Single Sign On issues

Postby chicagotech » Mon Apr 07, 2008 4:31 pm

My new HP notebook comes with HP Credential Manager Single Sign On. It helps to login security site or computer faster. However, it may bring some issues.

1. There may be a problem with SharePoint logon. Check this post.

Cannot find file When Vista accesses SharePoint

2. Unable to login on a HP CM secured Laptop. The Server is not responding properly. Verify that Credential Manager Server is properly installed on the target server. Even when supplying correct creds, vista will not login because CM crashed for some reason and vista is setup to only login after clearance by CM. to resolve this I did this

On ALT+CTRL+DEL logon screen, select Change User.
Select Credential Manager
Click Logon Using Wizard
DO NOT login yet, it wil not work
In the botom of that screen, click more options.
Select "do not login with credential manager"
Login using normal credentials.
Now you schould be able to login

To uninstall HP Credential Manager Single Sign On , without removing identities (option) reboot and reinstall from the hard disks c:\SWSetup\HPtoolS or download latest from HP.com.

FYI.

Wireless Single Sign-On in Windows Vista® lets you specify that IEEE 802.1X authentication for Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2)-Enterprise, WPA-Enterprise, and 802.1X authentication with Wireless Equivalency Privacy (WEP) occur before the user logon process. This allows you to solve domain logon issues in specific configurations. Wireless Single Sign-On also seamlessly integrates wireless authentication with the Windows.
