Vista VPN error 741 and 800

Postby guest » Sun May 18, 2008 9:47 am

I have been trying to set up a VPN connection to our SBS2k3 server from
Vista Business pc. At first I was getting error 741 and found KB929857 which
refers to this error. I used method 2.

Now when I try to connect I either get error 800 or " 'server' is not set up
to accept a connection to port 'pptp' from this computer"
No errors are logged in applics or system logs at either end.
VPN connections from my XPpro box work fine so the second error is false.

Can anyone help?

(crosspost to both microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing and
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs)

hi Alan C,

I had this same problem w while ago well it was the authinication
problem. You can check on your VPN properties, go to the security tab in
that select the Advance radio button. then select settings under allow
thses protocols tick all of them. and say yes.
this should allow you to connect to the VPN server. if it fails please
provide more infromation about ur sbs server.
note :- by doing the above ur security will be lessened. so make sure
you got the right authintication protocol configured

Hope this helps ..
Cheers !!
