A driver packet received from the I/O subsystem was invalid

a Windows XP SP2 computer started to lost network drives a week ago.
The following error was logged with Event ID 6004:

"A driver packet received from the I/O subsystem was invalid."

Before we go further, please confirm the following information for me:

1. Have you installed any applications or hardware devices before the issue
2. Is it an intermittent problem? After you restart the computer to
temporarily fix the problem, when will it recur?

Based on my research, I found some similar issues caused by McAfee TDI
filter driver. Please confirm the following information for me:

1. Do you have any McAfee program installed on the computer?
2. Have you ever installed any McAfee program to the computer?

If not, the issue can be caused by other factors, such as the network
adapter driver or third party programs or services. I suggest you try the
following steps to narrow down the cause:

Step 1: Update the network adapter driver
Download the latest network adapter driver from the manufacturer and
install it to the computer.

Step 2: Test in Safe Mode with Networking
1. Keep pressing F8 when the computer starts.
2. Highlight Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
