Connecting my Exchange to the world

Postby asslan » Wed Jan 03, 2007 5:04 am

I use SBS2000 with exchange 2000. currently I defined exchange to download users mail boxes from my internet service provider directly. I have a domain www.mydomaine.com and all mails use user@mydomaine.com. The mail boxes are located at my Internet service provider. My exchange checks the mail boxes every 15 minutes and download the mail to the users exchange mail boxes. however I need to define my exchange to reiceve mail from the word directly- not through my service provider. I have IP address and secure router SBOX (SAFE@OFFICE FROM CHECK POINT) .

I do not want to point the MX Record to my echange server.

Can it be done.

(the purpose of this that i want to connect to MessageLabs with my exchange server for spaming checking)

I am not sure I understand the question. If you want to receive mail from the word directly, you must open the port 25 on the router and forward it to the exchange.

Well, the question is Do I have to Point the MX record from my service mail provider to my exchange, or there is no need. I prefer not to do so.
I want keep receiving mail through my service mail server, Also to receive mail directly to my exchange from the world (not through the provider mail server)

You may receive the email directly from the world or your provider will forward them to you. If you want to receive the email directly from the world, you not need to Point the MX record from your service mail provider to your exchange. You do need someone or yourself who manage the DNS points the MX record to your exchange.
